The Sharon Historical Society and Sharon History has been in the news of late!

Sharon TV covered Paul Lauenstein’s April 22, 2025 Earth Day Presentation on .  the flora and fauna that make Sharon beautiful,  “Sharon Friends of Conservation Wildlife Sightings” If you missed the stunning photographs and great commentary, you can see them here:

On May 13, 2025   Sharon TV’s  Veronica Wiseman viewed the Many Families Many Stories exhibit and interviewed many of the individuals who contributed their stories and family artifacts.  She used the material to create an episode of her “Wise Friends” show that can be seen here:

The Many Families Many Stories Exhibit was partially funded by the Sharon Cultural Council and has been extended until Sunday June 8, 2025.  It can be viewed during normal open hours:  Friday  2-4, Saturday 1-4, and Sunday 3-5.  

On May 21 WBZ’s Chaiel Schaffel interviewed Sharon Historical Society member and Deborah Sampson expert Steve Connolly for a story he was doing in recognition of the upcoming May 23   Deborah Sampson Day.  You can hear the on-air story and read the full version of the report here:

The written story references the transfer of the Deborah Sampson Statue from the old Sharon Library to its new home at the new library.  The move occurred on May 5th, in time for the new library’s May 19th Grand Opening.  That video can be seen here:

Finally, on May 23, 2025,  Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kimberly Driscoll  “re -proclaimed” May 23rd as Deborah Sam(p) son Day for the State of Massachusetts as part of the MA250 Celebration.  She then gave the proclamation to Sharon Representative Ted Phillips, so he could present it to the Sharon Historical Society.   A link to SCTVs coverage of the event, the proclamation, and a photograph of the event at the Society are presented below.
